About us

The Institute of Environmental Research (INFU) was founded in 1972. In 2010 the institute was integrated into the faculty of chemistry including the chair of environmental and analytic chemistry. INFU initiates, promotes and carries out inter­disciplinary research projects in the field of environmental research and analytical chemistry.

The main fields of research are:

  • environmental and analytical chemistry
  • Molecular imprinted polymers

INFU has an environmental lab at its disposal which is fully equipped with most recent analytical instruments.

The principal sponsors of the institute in the framework of third-party-funded research projects are the German Research Council (DFG), the Federal Departments for Regional Policy, Construction and Urban Development, for Economic Cooperation and Development, the German Federal Environmental Agency (UBA), the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DSU), the Federal Office of Statistics, the State Departments and local authorities, industrial companies, OECD, UNO and the European Commission.
